Developing, evaluating, disseminating, and implementing behavioral health treatment and rehabilitation interventions for over 25 years.
The Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center (PRC) is committed to the development of behavioral health interventions that not only are effective but that are also easy to implement in routine healthcare settings. We have developed resources for multiple stakeholder groups in order to facilitate the implementation and sustainment of evidence-based practices. We have tested, revised, and updated the resources in order to increase their usefulness. In addition, we have conducted systematic research that informs the adoption, implementation, and sustainment of effective practices, using quantitative and qualitative methods. We have published numerous peer-reviewed articles that present our implementation research to the scientific community, providers of care, and those who use services.
Implementation of an evidence-based practice in a behavioral health setting involves two interacting streams of activity. The first stream is the information, training, and coaching that accompanies the development of the clinical skills necessary to deliver the evidence-based practice faithfully and effectively. The second stream of activity is the organizational change that is necessary to support the successful and sustainable implementation of an evidence-based practice. Our research and clinical experience has led to production of resources for both streams of implementation activities.
